Sehsüchte looking for material Sehsüchte continues its
success Also the 31st edition of Sehsüchte, the international student film festival in Potsdam, announces records : More than 850 films have been handed in for the festival, which emerged from the FDJ- student film festival. This has far outdone the number of films, which were handed in last year (738). Therefore, for the students of the Academy for Film and Media Potsdam-Babelsberg who organize the festival on their own, it was even more difficult to select 152 films for the festival. Approximately half of the films come from abroad, e.g. from France, Egypt, Israel, Australia, USA, Colombia, Hong Kong or Singapore. Compared to last years, the German contributions are considerably varied: besides numerous fantasy and science fiction films, there are also a lot of serious topics such as racism or illness. This year, there are new prize-donors: Andersen Deutschland for the fiction award (5000 €) and Digitrick for the animation award (2500 €). The ORB will traditionally donate the documentary award (2500 €) and Wolfgang Joop will give the Wunderkind award (2500 €) for an excellent artistic performance. 47 films have been handed in for the producers' award given by the Gerling insurance company. The award is endowed with 5000 €. The prize for the best screenplay
will be awarded for the first time and in co-operation with Boje
Buck Produktion. It was a real bombshell: more than 80 screenplays
have been handed in and are now competing for 2500 € and
for the personal dramatic advice by Detlev Buck. For further information please ask for our press information. You will find more information concerning accreditations and the festival under www.sehsuechte.de.
